Video
V1 (Video Engineer)
V1 is responsible for the video switcher, displays, engineering racks and processors, camera placement and camera control/shading.
V2 (Video Assistant)
A video specialist that assists the V1, projectionist, or tape op in setting and strike of video equipment, running and labeling cables, building cameras, and similar activities. The V2 may also assist with camera shading during show run.
Projectionist
A highly skilled technician that sets up, troubleshoots, color matches and/or blends video projectors (DLP or LCD). This technician can also be placed as the tape operator for show run positions.
Camera Operator
The camera operator is responsible for physically operating the camera and maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot.
Camera Operator-Hand Held
Trained and experienced camera operator at a non- fixed position.
Power Point Operator
A technician skilled in the operation and minor editing of PowerPoint (or Keynote presentations) and show graphics.
Lighting
ME(Master Electritian)
Works directly with the Lighting Programmer. The L1 leads the lighting construction. This includes; interpreting the lighting plot for rig and light fixture placement, assignment of dimmer patches, and final focus. May also program and operate simple lighting systems.
L2 (Lighting Assist)
Places lighting elements, builds truss, running power and data cable and assists in the focus of the lighting system.
Audio
A1 (Audio Engineer)
This person is responsible for the placement and operation of the mixing console, outboard effects/equalization racks, sound reinforcement system, and microphone placement
A2 (Audio Assistant)
An audio specialist that assists the A1 for set-up, show, and strike. The A2 assists running cables, rig assembly for hanging audio systems, FOH or Monitor control, backline, stage lines (bands, etc.), wireless mic frequency control, and other duties that the A1 designates.
Others
AV Technician (Set/Strike)
A technician with a general skill set in audio, video, and lighting. AV technicians can be used in meeting rooms, and general sessions.
AV Technician (Floater/Operator)
A show technician that operates and floats breakout rooms . This person can set and re-set breakout sessions.Also possess customer services skills.
Stagehand
General labor that assists in load-in, set-up, strike, and load-out. Stagehands are NOT AV Techs or L2’s. This person will assist with basic operations as stage building, set-piece placement, truss placement, case pushing, cable runs, scaffold building, and heavy lifting of various equipment.
Carpenter
A technician that specializes in the set-up of stages, sets and props.
Computer Techs
This person sets and strikes computers, installs and troubleshoots basic software issues. Also can set basic networks.
